More and more people are becoming aware of non-binary gender identities and the importance of being able to communicate one’s identity through gender-neutral terms such as “they.” Many romance languages, Italian included, are built on a binary conception of gender that provides limited room for gender-neutrality.

In this dialogue, prominent American gender fluid activist Jeffrey Marsh, Fiorenza Quercioli, and Enrie Scielzo will explore how gender-fluidity can be captured within language and how language can be used as a form of social activism.
