Beyond simply covering a story and reporting facts, journalism has long been committed to shining light on social injustice. Recent movements like Black Lives Matter, #MeToo, and the Women’s March have brought new forms of activism into the newsroom, many finding expression through digital media, provoking renewed debate around the question: Where does journalism end and activism begin? Alexandra Borchardt will discuss the increasing interplay between journalism and activism today and the role of journalists in fostering social change in contemporary society.
