Matteo Renzi stormed onto the national scene in the 2012 Democratic Party Primaries calling for Italians to break with the past and mobilize for change around his rallying cry Adesso! Who is Italy’s new prime minister? Will he be able to deliver on his promises? Professors Roberto D´Alimonte and Alessandro Chiaramonte will have a conversation on the recent and sudden change in Italian Politics. How was Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta forced to resign for the mayor of Florence, Matteo Renzi, to take his place? D’Alimonte and Chiaramonte will explain how the unique maneuver occurred, and discuss what it means for the future of Italy. Will Renzi be able to keep the reins of the Italian government? Can we expect a new era in Italian politics?
