Giulia Barrera began working in the archives of italian government as soon as she finished high school, first at the Central State Archives (1980-90), then at Office Studies and Publications (1994-2004). She gradued in Literature, specializing in archival, holds a DEA in history at Ecole des Hautes Etudes en SCience Sociales and has a Ph.D. in African history from Northwestern University (Evanston, II, USA), with a thesis on Colonial Affairs: Italian Men, Eritrean Women, and The Construction of Racial Hierarchies in Colonial Eritrea (1882-1941). She currently works as an archivist for the Department of Archives and Library of the Ministry of Heritage and cultural activities. For two years, she has been employed by the Public Prosecutor of Rome, as a consultant for historical documentary on the Italian investigation of the so-called Operation Condor, which is the secret agreement of collaboration between the dictatorship of Southern Cone, created in 1975 by the Chilean DINA. |
