David Travis

Professor of Contemporary History, NYU Florence
 

David Travis is a professor of history at NYU Florence. He joined NYU Florence fourteen years ago, became a permanent faculty member in 2000, and served for ten years as the Director of the academic program. He currently teaches courses in Italian history, Europe since 1945 and European Fascism. He received his Ph.D. from Cambridge University (UK), held a two-year junior research fellowship at Oxford University, taught as an assistant professor at the University of Washington, and was awarded a Fulbright Research Fellowship. He is the author of many articles on contemporary Italian history, politics and culture, and the book Italy: The Land and People. His own research focuses on Italy and Europe in the twentieth and, now, twenty-first centuries.
